VisaBuddy is built to know as little about you as possible. This page explains, in plain English, what data exists, where it lives, and what your rights are.
The visa checker
Your answers in the checker (your passport country, purpose of visit and so on) are processed entirely in your browser. They are never sent to our servers, never stored by us, and disappear when you close the tab. We do not know who you are or what you checked.
Payments (£3.99 report)
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers. Stripe shares with us a payment confirmation and the email address you enter at checkout, which appear in our Stripe account records as required for accounting and refunds. Your report is generated on your device and is not stored or seen by us.
Advice waiting list
If you join the waiting list, we store your email address (and the check result you joined from) as a customer record in Stripe. We use it for one purpose only: to tell you when advice appointments open. No marketing. Email [email protected] at any time and we will delete it.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no sign-ups, no passwords.
- No analytics or advertising trackers.
- No marketing cookies. The site uses only your browser's local storage to make the app work (for example, keeping your check result on screen after payment).
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties, beyond the payment processing described above.
Hosting
The website is served by Cloudflare and our payment server runs on Render. Like all web hosts, they process technical connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site securely. We do not use this data to identify visitors.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Because we hold so little, the fastest route for any request is [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
